Myths about International Adoption and Attachment Problems

August 26, 2011

Since this has been featured so prominently in the news lately, with the myth being endlessly repeated, I wanted to make people aware of an earlier posting that shows what the research literature actually says on this topic. Attachment problems and behavior problems are not one in the same. Stigmatizing internationally adopted children with bogus diagnoses leads to bogus and harmful therapies that blame the child.

I am reiterating this point here to counteract the endless repetition of misinformation in the media on this topic.
